Designer – Henry Pilstrup

HENRY PILSTRUP (1890 – 1967)

Henry Pilstrup was an apprentice under Georg Jensen in the early days of the shop, starting in 1904, when he was 14 years old.

He worked his way up quickly, executing a large part of the jewellery. Between 1918 and 1957, Henry Pilstrup had created many jewellery designs, being foreman of the respective workshop. He had the unfortunate task of translating Georg Jensen’s rough sketches into working drawings. As such, his work on the final drawings often held some of his influence.

Henry Pilstrup was also one of the first designers outside of Georg Jensen himself who exhibited his own pieces under the silversmithy’s name, making him one of the principal designers of early Jensen pieces.
