Georg Jensen – Torun Ring – Sterling Silver, Diamond – Design 204A

Playful, chic and infinitely eye-catching, Torun’s sleek and feminine ring is crafted not for the sake of beauty alone, but with careful considerations to both form and function. Intrinsically to its design, this Georg Jensen icon holds the promise of coming together to be stronger than apart.

The ring runs small to size – we suggest taking next size up.

Designer - V. Torun

Designer - Torun (Vivianna Torun Bulow-Hube 1927 - 2004)

Vivianna Torun Bulow-Hube, know as Torun was born on December 4, 1927 in Malmo, Sweden. Her father was director of town planning in Malmo and her mother was a sculptor. Torun was the youngest of four children. All four children pursued artistic careers but it was Torun who became the most famous, as the first woman silversmith in the world to gain international recognition.

Torun studied at Konstfack, the School of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, beginning in 1945 while pregnant with her first child. In 1956, Torun moved to France with her third husband, Walter Coleman, an Afro-American painter, meeting many of the jazz greats of that time. She designed jewellery for among others, Billie Holiday which Holiday wore when she performed.

In 1968, she moved to Germany. She had a workshop and worked with other artists in an association called “Die Schwinge”.Beginning in 1967, Torun’s production was taken over by Georg Jensen silver. Since moving to Germany, Torun worked on things other than jewellery, including cutlery, chinaware and handbags. In 1978, Torun moved to Indonesia where she still lives.

On November 5, 1992, Torun was awarded the Prince Eugen medal by King Carl XVI Gustav of Sweden. The medal is bestowed for outstanding artistic achievement.

Sizing Guide

Ring, pendant & necklace size reference

Being Danish, Georg Jensen jewellery uses European Ring sizes for their products (all our other jewellery is measured in UK sizes). The chart below can be used to help choose the size that fits you best.

We would always suggest getting your finger measured professionally where possible or purchasing a cheap set of ring sizers online before deciding.

Alternatively, cut a piece of paper roughly to the width of the ring band you are interested in,  wrap it around your finger making sure it can slide over your knuckle and mark and measure it where it overlaps. To be sure you can then sellotape or glue it to this size and test it over your finger. This will give you the Internal ring measurement in mm, which can be referenced on Google etc. For the European or UK equivalent.
